Shreya is based in Kolkata and is currently working as a Scientist in IPCC-WG-III Technical Support Unit. She is an economist by training, holds a Master’s degree (2015) from Jadavpur University, Kolkata, India. She has successfully defended her Ph.D. thesis titled “Economics of Greenhouse Gas Emission Mitigation: A Study of the Indian Agricultural Sector” at the Department of Economics, Jadavpur University on June 21, 2021.
Shreya’s research interests include emission trend analysis, sustainability and co-benefits analysis of various adaptation and mitigation options. She is particularly passionate about emission mitigation from the agricultural sector. Recently, she is also working on demand side climate mitigation solutions and learning energy modelling. She has worked as a Contributing Author in Chapter 5 of the IPCC Special Report 1.5 and WRI ocean report- The Ocean as a Solution to Climate Change: Five Opportunities for Action. She has over 10 publications in reputed peer-reviewed journals and edited books.
Prior to joining IPCC, for a short while, she has worked as a Business Analyst with Wipro Technologies (India). She was also an exchange scholar at the Technical University, Freiberg, Germany funded by the UGC-DAAD-PPP 2019-2021. In 2014, she was a Summer Intern at Reserve Bank of India (Kolkata).
