Junting Zhong is an Associate Professor of Atmospheric Chemistry & Physics at the Chinese Academy of Meteorological Sciences (CAMS). He earned his Ph.D. in Meteorology from CAMS and the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences. His research focuses on the interactions between atmospheric composition under human activities and weather & climate. He has explored severe atmospheric pollution in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, revealing the complex feedback mechanisms between aerosol pollution and meteorological conditions. Zhong has been instrumental in developing China’s first operational carbon monitoring and verification support system and currently participates in cutting-edge research using observed atmospheric CO2 concentrations to study anthropogenic carbon emissions and natural carbon fluxes. He also enhances carbon source and sink models using AI technology and evaluates the impacts of national carbon neutrality actions. He has led a youth project funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and participated in several major research projects. Zhong has published over 50 SCI-indexed papers (over 1800 citations), including several highly cited papers and contributions to leading journals.
