Aïda Diongue-Niang is a Vice-Chair of IPCC’s Working Group I for the seventh assessment cycle. She was a lead author of the Working Group I contribution to the Sixth Assessment Report on the physical science basis of climate change.
She has worked for more than 20 years in the Meteorological Service of Senegal in various roles including research, research-operations interface, service delivery, and has held numerous management positions including Director of Meteorology, serving as Permanent Representative to the WMO and IPCC Focal Point. She has also served as Deputy Representative of Senegal of the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) working with the Government of Senegal in structuring the Green Senegal Emerging Plan. She is currently a technical advisor at the National Agency for Civil Aviation and Meteorology. Aïda Diongue-Niang holds a PhD in meteorology on the West African monsoon system.
