The IPCC is actively participating in the 58th session of the Subsidiary Bodies of the UNFCCC (SB58) from 5 to 15 June 2023 at the World Conference Center Bonn in Germany. IPCC’s focus is presenting the main findings of the Synthesis Report and the whole of the Sixth Assessment Report with the aim of contributing to the Global Stocktake Technical Dialogues – a prelude to the first Global Stocktake scheduled to take place at this year’s UNFCCC conference in Dubai.
On 10 May 2023, the Joint SBSTA-IPCC Working Group met to finalize the plans for the activities. The IPCC is taking part throughout the conference, including in these:
- 5 June: IPCC Secretary’s Statement during the opening of SBSTA meetings
- 5 June: SBSTA Special event on AR6 Synthesis Report
- 6 June: IPCC-UNFCCC side event on IPCC Inventory software
- 7 June: In-session technical workshop on findings on emission metrics contained in the Sixth Assessment Report
- 8,9,10 & 13 June: Global Stocktake Technical Dialogues
- 9 June: IPCC side event on the use of scenarios in AR6 and future assessments
