Yongmei Gong

Dr. Yongmei Gong has a background in geophysics, with a focus on glaciology. Before taking the role of Science Officer, she worked as a senior researcher studying the interaction between the climate and glacial systems using computer models and field observations. Her work also has implications for local and global water resources, ecosystems, and human well-being.
She is also interested in integrating multidisciplinary approaches that merge natural sciences, social sciences, and the arts to evaluate the diverse values of nature. Her mission is to advance the scientific understanding and raise public awareness of the critical role of glaciers in the Earth system and society.
