Sherine El-Wattar serves as the Science Network Officer for the Working Group II TSU of the IPCC  for the seventh assessment cycle. In particular, she organizes the engagement with various scientific and stakeholder networks to increase the uptake of results of the Special Report on Cities and other IPCC reports by governments and societal organizations.

With a rich background as a water management and governance specialist, Sherine’s career includes extensive consultancy work on water-related studies in Middle East, East Africa, and Europe. These studies cover a wide range of issues including society, gender, challenges and opportunities of inclusion, water and climate change technological adoption, remote sensing analyses, and the mapping of water and environment stakeholders.

Her professional journey includes significant roles such as Green Zone Officer for COP27 with the Egyptian Ministry of Environment, as technical assistant to the Egyptian Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, and as program design and coordination support with Egypt’s UNDP Accelerator Labs.

She holds a Master of Science degree in water management and governance from IHE Delft, Netherlands, and Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering with a minor in water and environmental engineering from Cairo University.
