April Lamb provides graphics and data support for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Working Group III Technical Support Unit (TSU). She also serves as the WGIII representative for the Task Group on Data Support for Climate Change Assessments (TG-Data). April has nearly a decade of experience creating high-quality data visualizations for manuscripts, reports, and assessments.
April is employed by NC State University’s North Carolina Institute for Climate Studies (NCICS), which is co-located with NOAA’s National Centers for Environmental Information in Asheville, North Carolina. She joined the TSU in 2022 and is one of several NOAA TSU staff who are supporting the WGIII TSU.
April served as a science editor (March 2022–December 2023) and a scientific graphics quality coordinator (January 2024–present) on the Fifth US National Climate Assessment. Here, she worked with report authors to develop accessible and meaningful scientific figures; managed the collection and review of legally required metadata for figures and tables; assisted with the acquisition of copyright for non-original materials used in report products; and performed technical and copy editing of figures and tables for readability, clarity, structure, and scientific and stylistic consistency.
April is a former NSF graduate research fellow and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Zoology, a GIS certificate, and a Masters degree in Biology from NC State University in Raleigh, North Carolina.
